Quaking Aspen

Check out the clump of trees, these are quaking aspen. The basic aspen unit is not an individual tree but a clone of trees, all arising from the same root system. Is it spring? If so, look at the ground near aspen trees, morels strive here. More than three hundred insect species feed on aspen as well as an oyster mushroom that is a wood decomposer. Pay attention, you may find gnawed stumps of aspen, this is a sign of beaver, they love aspen. Porcupine quite enjoy the foliage provided by aspen as a summer treat, even black bear will climb on up and munch on some leaves.
