The Pine Ridge Nature Trail starts near the Visitor Center and ends at the back side of the headquarters building by the fire tower. This 1.5 mile loop takes you around the pool north of the Visitor Center, through mixed pine forests, and along a stretch of boardwalk. If you want to add some distance to your hike, take the Wigwam Connector trail and check out the wigwams near highway M-77. Black flies, deer flies, or mosquitoes can be bad at certain times of the year, so plan ahead. Bug repellent and head nets can be purchased in the Visitor Center. You can also check out binoculars, kids packs, or grab a Jr. Ranger booklet from the front desk - free of charge.
