Osprey Nest

Look to your right, there is an osprey nest at the top of that tree. Keep your eyes open, you may spot one plunging feet-first into the pool to catch a fish in its talons. They typically stick to a fish diet although when fish are scarce they may go for smaller mammals or even other birds. If you spot an osprey bringing fish back to the nest for the chick, chances are that is the male. The female will then accept the fish from the male and begin tearing fleshy bits off for the young. The female will also spend her time tending to the nest and making sure that it is clean of uneaten fish and other leftovers. Sometimes when osprey chicks are learning to fly they will flip and flutter to other nests, sometimes visiting several nests in the process.
